At least 7 people killed, more than a dozen injured in Thailand school shooting
Police have identified the suspect as a 14-year-old student, authorities said.
At least seven people have been killed, including three students and three teachers, in a school shooting that took place at a high school in the outskirts of Bangkok, Thailand, police said.
The shooting happened at The Debsirin School in the Bang Kruai district of Nonthaburi province. Police have identified the suspect as a 14-year-old student. More than a dozen others were injured, police said.
Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul called the shooting "premeditated" and said the alleged shooter "carried lots of pressure and tension."
The alleged gunman also killed his grandparents, who he lived with, before coming to the school to carry out the shooting, Charnvirakul told reporters on the scene.
The gunman killed himself following the shooting, according to Thai police. He could have harmed more people if he had not killed himself, the prime minister said, noting that he had more than 30 rounds of bullets when he died.
The shooter allegedly used his grandfather's registered gun to carry out the attack, authorities said. He had posted a picture of the gun on his Instagram account following a festival, according to the prime minister.
"This is a saddening incident," Charnvirakul said. "He intentionally came to school today to commit this unfortunate case."
